Panel 2 - Decarbonization Policies in South East Europe
New developments and cutting edge policies

Romania Energy Center (ROEC) in partnership with the Institute of Energy for South East Europe (IENE) and the European Commission representation in Bucharest are joining forces once again to convene a one-day event to examine current topics of the region’s energy agenda. Our central theme – energy policies currently pursued in South East Europe and the changes in the aftermath of Russia’s invasion in Ukraine.

Moderated by Eugenia Gusilov, this panel was about the new EU sectorial policies, specifically hydrogen, Small Modular Reactors (SMRs), renewables and methane emissions.

These 2 presentations were followed by a discussion and questions from the audience. The segment concluded with 2 pre-recorded video messages from:
• Nikolas Sofianos (IENE) on RES in South East Europe
• Raul Cazan (2Celsius) on methane emissions, a topic less known to the public, but gaining more attention lately in Brussels as well as globally.
