During an appearance on the show Banii azi on TVR INFO, Eugenia Gusilov discussed the progress of refilling underground natural gas storage facilities for the winter season. Compared to the previous year, the task is less challenging, and reaching the 90% storage filling target before winter is entirely realistic given the positive baseline conditions.

However, two unpredictable variables remain: winter temperatures, determining how cold the season will be, and the recovery rate of industrial consumption, both of which could influence how smoothly the cold season is navigated.

The discussion also addressed the rationale behind maintaining capped gas prices, set at 0.31 lei/kWh for households and 0.37 lei/kWh for non-households. These caps comprise the gas purchase price, which accounts for about 60% and is capped at 150 lei/MWh for domestically extracted gas, alongside the remaining 40% covering distribution and supply tariffs as well as VAT.

Finally, the conversation touched upon inflation, noting its decline from 15% in January 2023 to 10.6% by May 2023. At present, inflation is driven primarily by food products rather than energy prices.
