On Tuesday, August 4, during an appearance on Digi24, discussions centered on the pending presidential promulgation of the ordinance re-establishing the state of emergency in the fuel market.

The maximum possible reduction through the dynamic excise mechanism is 25 percent. The discount applies to the excise duty of 2.8 lei per liter of diesel, meaning 2.8 lei multiplied by 0.25 equals 0.7 lei (70 bani). Adding the 21 percent VAT (0.7 lei multiplied by 0.21 equals 0.15 lei), the maximum possible reduction reaches 85 bani.

However, the government announced that it will initially apply only a 10 percent reduction in excise duty. This translates to 28 bani plus related VAT of 6 bani, resulting in a total discount of just 34 bani per liter of diesel.

Shortly after the discussion, the president promulgated the ordinance.
