Eugenia Gusilov discussed the operational status of Romanian refineries and regional energy security with Radu Osipov on TV Moldova1. She provided a detailed breakdown of Romania's refining sector.

Petromidia is the largest refinery in the country with a refining capacity of 5.4 million tons of crude oil per year and has resumed operations following a technical review. Petrobrazi, the second largest refinery with a capacity of 4.5 million tons per year, is also fully operational, having completed a partial revision of a single installation in late March. Petrotel Lukoil, the third largest refinery with a capacity of 2.5 million tons per year, remains closed since November 2025.

In this context, Eugenia Gusilov noted that the Republic of Moldova should not rely entirely on Romania for its diesel supply, emphasizing that diversification remains crucial. Furthermore, Ukrainian strikes on Russian refineries and export terminals are worsening regional supply issues by removing volumes that previously supplied the market. She noted that Ukraine has no alternative but to continue targeting Russia's war resources.

For consumers, particularly in countries heavily dependent on imports like Moldova, the primary available measure is adjusting and reducing energy demand and consumption.
