This topic emerged unexpectedly at the end of December and requires utmost caution and legal expertise to prevent Moldova from assuming Transnistria's historical debt to Gazprom.

Since potential arbitration disputes are tied to Moscow through the International Commercial Arbitration Court of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Chisinau must avoid creating a larger vulnerability. Moldovagaz is a partially state-owned company with contested debts to Gazprom, and nationalization must not result in ordinary citizens bearing the costs of Transnistria's liabilities. Gusilov pointed out that a better alternative to nationalization would be dismantling the monopoly of Moldovagaz by separating its core business operations and allowing other entities to enter the market, similar to the model successfully used for Energocom.
