This extremely important announcement gives the green light to long-awaited Romanian gas production from the Black Sea, transforming discovered reserves into certainty, while also addressing potential environmental concerns associated with the exploitation.

However, this extraordinary announcement is somewhat overshadowed by the news that OMV Petrom filed an action against Romania at the Paris Court of Arbitration. Meanwhile, the Romanian state, through ANRM, is willing to extend its oil agreements for another 15 years for nine onshore perimeters owned by Petrom, which would cement the company's monopoly position in crude oil production for another decade and a half.
