On Euronews Romania's show "Buna seara Romania" on February 3, Eugenia Gusilov discussed with Claudiu Popa the contract signed with Azerbaijan to bring 1 billion cubic meters of gas to Romania. This is considered a small victory, but also the only tangible result on the energy component of the bilateral relationship. Romania should focus in the immediate future on its own natural gas extraction projects, prioritizing Romanian gas over Azeri gas. Objective number 1 is to increase domestic gas production, leveraging resources such as the Caragele deposit and the Black Sea, while Azeri gas should remain purely complementary. Romgaz's main activity is natural gas production, not trading. Regarding infrastructure, the emphasis should be on exploiting existing networks, such as the Trans-Balkan pipeline, rather than on Black Sea LNG projects. The AGRI project has no future, despite attempts to rebrand it from AGRI LNG to Black Sea LNG.
