Beyond the enthusiasm for the prosumer phenomenon in Romania, an important distinction must be made. The 680 MW injected into the transport network from storage facilities on the evening of August 13 cannot be attributed solely to prosumers. While prosumers reduce consumption and show solidarity, Transelectrica's data reflects the impact of industrial storage projects.

Economic reality is currently dictated by the need to reduce the budget deficit. However, keeping taxes high for too long ignores the Laffer curve. Excessive taxation kills consumption, destroys the taxable base, and pushes companies toward bankruptcy or relocation to countries with lower taxes, such as Bulgaria. Tax increases are a double-edged sword.

Regarding fuel, the government's decision to reduce the excise tax on diesel by 20% provides a temporary respite. Future price increases will likely stem from Russia, where Ukrainian drone attacks have heavily impacted refining capacity, potentially forcing Russia to buy on the global market.
