On July 2, speaking on Digi24, Eugenia Gusilov addressed the significant adjustment gap between international quotations and local fuel prices. She noted that the price difference for standard diesel between Romania (9.4 lei/liter) and Bulgaria (8 lei/liter) stems primarily from the excise tax, which is nearly double in Romania at 0.55 EUR compared to 0.33 EUR per liter in Bulgaria (roughly 2.8 lei versus 1.7 lei). According to ROEC, a straightforward solution would be lowering the excise duty to match the levels practiced in Bulgaria.
