Dumitru Costin provided an insightful explanation of the different cost structures present on the Romanian market. One model involves extracting crude oil, refining it, and selling the fuel, as practiced by OMV Petrom. Another model applies when crude oil is extracted elsewhere but refined and sold in Romania, as seen with Rompetrol. A completely different category includes companies that exclusively sell and distribute products.

Firms such as Socar and Mol fall into this final category, as they import gasoline and diesel extracted and refined abroad to sell them in Romania. The conversation also addressed statements made by NBR board member Eugen Radulescu, alongside the broader context of recent fuel price increases following significant property tax hikes in January.
