Recently at Euronews Romania, Eugenia Gusilov discussed the impact of blocking the Strait of Hormuz on crude oil and natural gas prices. She highlighted the current level of gas storage filling in Europe as of March 1: 34% in Romania, 21% in Germany, 22% in France, 11% in the Netherlands, and 16% in Ukraine, noting that these figures result from higher consumption from underground storages during the winter.

She also addressed the EU strategy to buy more from the spot market and less through long-term contracts, pointing out that while this is a good strategy in times of peace and abundant volumes, it becomes harmful when Hormuz traffic is blocked because it exposes markets to greater price volatility.

Finally, she touched upon the statements made by the Minister of Energy, who dismissed analytical estimates regarding the scenario of 10 lei per liter for gasoline and diesel as blatant lies.
